Lincoln County MO Habitat for Humanity wants to team Up with Churches to End Poverty Housing
Habitat for Humanity is about tearing down walls and building bridges. It is about bringing hope and transforming lives. It is about serving God by serving others.

Millard Fuller, Founder of Habitat for Humanity, stated in his book The Theology Of The Hammer  "The idea or concept of the theology of the hammer is that our Christian faith mandates that we do more than just talk about faith and sing about love.  We must put faith and love into action to make them real, to make them come alive for people.  Faith must become more than a verbal proclamation or an intellectual assent.  True faith must be acted out. "

Habitat for Humanity is about bringing a wide diversity of people, churches and other organizations together to build houses and establish viable and dynamic communities .  It is acknowledging that differences of opinion exist on numerous subjects - political, philosophical, and theological - but that we can find common ground in using a hammer as an instrument to manifest God's love.  Even though there may be strong differences on all sorts of things - baptism, communion, what night to have prayer meeting, and how the preacher should dress, for example - we can agree on the imperative of the gospel to service others in the name of the Lord.

We can agree on building and renovating simple, decent houses with and for God's people in need and in doing so use biblical economics:  no profit and no interest; taking what limited resources are available, asking God to bless them, then going to work, and proceeding with the sure knowledge that God's love extends to everyone - with a preferential concern for the poor .

How do churches partner with Lincoln County MO Habitat for Humanity?
Habitat's ministry is based on the conviction that to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ we must reflect Christ's love in our own lives by loving and caring for one another. Our love must not be words only—it must be true love, which shows itself in action. Habitat provides an opportunity for people to put their faith and love into action, bringing diverse groups of people together to make affordable housing and better communities a reality for everyone.
